Emma Cate turns 4!

Emma Cate had her 4th Birthday party yesterday and we had so much fun! We bounced and slide down the slide and danced. The theme was popsicle, since Emma loves them so much and we had our own individual cakes in the shape of popsicles. Too cute! Then we had real popsicles to go along with our cake. Happy Birthday to you, Emma Cate!

4th of July

We had a nice July 4th holiday weekend. We had a Lowcountry Boil and Oyster roast with my family on Friday. We got to play with Aidan's new puppy, a Chocolate Lab. Her name is Shayla (which he named himself), but he calls her Shay. She is so sweet and very calm and Ella just loved her. She loved playing catch with her. Scott was on call so Ella and I headed to the lake for the day on Saturday at his parent's place. Then we came to have dinner with Scott and we had hash...our favorite!

Waterpark

Yesterday we went to the new waterpark with our friends Hayden and Caroline. There was a lot for the little ones to play on. Ella and Hayden were so sweet with each other. They kept hugging each other and holding hands. We had a great time!

Storytime at the library

Today we went to storytime at the library. We read Zoo Parade, sang songs, danced and even had a parade with streamers. It was a lot of fun! We are going to make it our Wednesday morning ritual.

2 year update

Ella had her 2 year wellness exam yesterday and she is doing great. She is 36 inches and weighs 32 pounds. This is 90th percentile for height and 95th for weight. She is growing so fast! She has always been in 90th range for both so we sort of expected it. She talks constantly and her favorite line is "Hey Mommy, how are you"? It is so "grown-up" sounding. She is definitely not a baby anymore. She is still doing well without her paci. She hasn't mentioned it lately and she has stopped crying at night when we lay her down. She has also gotten back into her napping routine so things are back to normal. My next big project is potty-training although and I am not ready for it!! She has been using it when she wakes in the morning and before bathtime but I can't really get her used to doing it at other times. Like today, she has a pull-up on and I have been taking her every 30 minutes to the potty but she doesn't go. Then as soon as we get off and her pull-up is back up, she goes. Does this mean she is not ready? Should I go cold turkey and put panies on her? Not sure what to do. Any of you with advice, please help! Every stage brings new challenges and she has done great with everything else so hopefully this will be as smoothe.

Father's Day

Ella made the cutest Father's Day gift for Scott. We went to Flying Saucers and "hand"-painted a grilling platter for him. The flowers are her handprints and the butterflies, ladybugs and bees are her thumbprints. It was a lot of fun and Ella enjoyed painting. We are planning to go back for some more projects this summer. We also got Scott a new grill. Happy Father's Day...you are a terrific daddy!

Summer Planting

We planted sunflowers, lettuce and pumpkins over the weekend. Ella started the process at Mrs. Benita's and when she brought them home the plants were growing so fast we decided to put them in bigger pots. Ella carried them to the front porch so that she could water them everyday. Once they get a little bigger we hope to plant them in our backyard.
