Despite the lack of snow we still had fun on our snow day today! We went out for a little and then came in to warm up and watch movies. I love lazy snow days!
Scott had his annual conference in Charleston this past weekend and despite the bitter cold, Ella and I went anyway. I was worried that she would get bored being in the hotel room all weekend but she did really well. On Saturday since we couldn't really walk around downtown I decided to take her to the Children's Museum which kept her occupied for 3 hours! It was really fun watching her explore and learn. Aunt Gaby and Uncle Chuck were there for the weekend too so it was nice to get to hang out with them as well.
We took Ella to see Sesame St. Live on Thursday night and we had a blast. We were so pleased at how well she did! She got a little squirmy at the end but it lasted for one and a half hours so that was to be expected. This is her favorite show right now and she can name all of them. Her favorites are Elmo, Bert and Ernie and Abby Cadabby. It was so cute during the "Elmo's World" scene when Mr. Noodle came she hollered out "Mr. Noon-le" really loud. I laughed so hard! She is talking so well these days but some of her pronunciations are so darn CUTE!!! There was a scene where Baby Bear wants to be a conductor on a Choo-Choo Train and it must have been Ella's favorite part because it's all she has talked about since we left the show. Every time she looks at her program from the show she says "choo-choo train" over and over.
We had a fabulous time on our New Year's trip! We left out on New Year's Eve for Tampa. Our resort was beautiful. It was called the Don Cesar aka "the pink palace on the beach" at St. Petersburg Beach. We enjoyed great Cuban food, lost of fresh seafood and great shopping. The weather was a perfect 80 degrees so we went out on the beach as well. On Saturday we went to Busch Gardens which was tons of fun. I didn't take my camera there because I was afraid to but now I wish I had because I missed so many photo opportunities. On Sunday, we had King Charles Brunch at the resort and it was the best. We were so stuffed for our flight home. Or so we thought! When we arrived at the airport we were told that our flight had been delayed 2 hours. We were bummed but it wasn't a big deal, until we found out that it was actually delayed 4 hours! We were so upset because we missed Ella so much and now she was going to be asleep when we got home. Not to mention the fact that we were now stuck in the airport for 6 hours. When we finally arrived after midnight at home we crashed so that we could start the work week. It was a nice winter vacation but we are so glad to be home!
We headed down to Tampa on New Year's to watch the Gamecocks in the Outback Bowl. We had a great time considering it was not such a great game. Maybe next year. I think we said that last year too!
We are loving this odd December weather we are having. It was so beautiful yesterday. It was the first time in awhile we have been able to really enjoy being outside in the sunshine. Ella wanted to check out her new tricycle so we went for a ride around the neighborhood. Her favorite thing to do though is just to run around in the grass. We are enjoying our time at home this week!
I am a school counselor, a wife and a mom to a precious little girl named Ella. I enjoy spending lots of time with my family, working with students, trying new recipes, shopping and reading.
